The Word of God as a Lamp
Psalm 119:105
One of the most familiar descriptions of God’s Word is a lamp.
In ancient times, lamps provided enough light to guide a person safely along a dark path. They did not always illuminate the entire journey ahead, but they provided enough light for the next step.
This reminds us that God’s Word:
• Guides our decisions.
• Helps us avoid harmful paths.
• Provides wisdom in uncertain times.
• Reveals God’s direction for our lives.
We may not always know what the future holds, but Scripture gives us the guidance we need for today.
The Word of God as Bread
Matthew 4:4
Jesus compared God’s Word to bread because bread provides physical nourishment.

The Word of God as a Seed
Luke 8:11
Jesus used the image of a seed when teaching about God’s Word.
A seed may appear small, but when planted in good soil it can grow and produce a great harvest.

James 1:22–25
