Discover the Purpose God Has Placed in Your Life
Exploring Your Call.
In the journey of faith, every believer is invited into a unique and beautiful calling. Whether you feel a gentle nudge or a burning passion, your calling is God’s personal invitation to partner with Him in His work in the world.
What Does It Mean to Be Called?
In Scripture, a “calling” is more than just a job or a role — it’s a way of life. God calls each of us first into relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. From there, He shapes and directs our lives for His glory and the good of others
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
— Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Ways God Calls Us:
- To Himself: Every call begins with knowing and loving God.
- To Community: We are called to live in fellowship, building up the Body of Christ.
- To Service: Each believer is given gifts to serve others and share Christ’s love.
- To Mission: Some are called across the street; others across the world.
How Can You Begin to Explore Your Call?
- Pray: Ask God to reveal His desires for your life. The Lord has called you, but do not rush into the mission without first asking for wisdom and guidance at each level, at every stage pray and take time to listen to the Lord.
- Listen: Pay attention to the burdens, dreams, and passions He places in your heart.
- Seek Counsel: Talk with pastors, mentors, or trusted Christian friends. Ask for a mentor to help you discern God’s call. Seek insight, devote time to personal development, learn to hear the Lord’s voice, and communicate with your church.
- Take Steps: Sometimes, clarity comes through action — start serving and watch how God leads.
- Discover: the needs of the community you’ll be serving, or the purpose God has placed on your heart.
- Take every chance: to meet individuals in your town, further away, and from various cultures as you investigate your calling while also spreading the Gospel.
- Nurture your skills: and consider how you may apply your skills and interests to your calling. There will be periods of change, and you may be taken out of your comfort zone, the Lord is helping you grow, and He will be with every step of the way.
You’re Not Alone
Exploring your call can feel overwhelming — but God promises to guide you.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
