What is Resurrection?

  • When Christians pass away, their soul—the spiritual aspect of them—joins God in Heaven.
  • There will be a bodily resurrection at the end of time, meaning that people will be given physical bodies again.
  • Before the final destiny is decided, everyone will be evaluated according to their actions and faith.
  • We shall all be transformed, the dead will be risen imperishable, and the Lord’s trumpet will sound. 1 Corinthians 15:52. 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
  • Eternal life or immortality will be the new order. 1 Corinthians 15:54-55. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?

Resurrection is a core belief of the Christian faith — the powerful act by which God raises the dead to new life. It is the hope that transforms sorrow into joy and death into eternal life.

What Does Resurrection Mean?

The word resurrection means “to rise again.” In the Bible, it refers primarily to Jesus Christ rising from the dead, and to the future hope that all who trust Him will also be raised to eternal life.

The Resurrection of Jesus

Jesus’ resurrection is the cornerstone of Christianity. After His crucifixion and burial, God raised Him bodily from the grave on the third day.

📖 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”

This event proves Jesus’ victory over sin and death, confirming that He is the Son of God.

📖 Romans 6:9

“For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.”

The Promise of Resurrection for Believers

Because Jesus was raised, we too have the hope of resurrection.

📖 John 11:25–26

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’”

📖 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command… The dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive will be caught up… to meet the Lord in the air.”

Why Is Resurrection Important?

  • It gives us hope beyond death: Resurrection assures us that death is not the end.
  • It confirms Jesus as Lord: Only God has power over life and death.
  • It guarantees eternal life: Believers will be raised to live forever with God.

How Should Resurrection Affect Our Lives?

Knowing we will be raised from the dead encourages us to live with faith, hope, and purpose now.

📖 Romans 8:11

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies…”
