What Is Salvation?

The Greatest Gift You Can Receive

At Christian Life Today, we believe salvation is the heart of the Christian message — God’s gift of forgiveness, new life, and eternal hope to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ.

Why Do We Need Salvation?

The Bible tells us that all people have sinned and fall short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23). Our sin separates us from God, and the result of sin is death — both physical and spiritual (Romans 6:23).

What Did God Do for Us?

Because of His great love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and rose again, conquering death (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).

How Can We Be Saved?

Salvation is not something we can earn through good works; it is a gift we receive by faith. The Bible says
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

What Happens When We Are Saved?

  • We are forgiven of our sins.
  • We are made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • We receive eternal life and the promise of Heaven.
  • We begin a relationship with God that transforms every part of our lives.

Salvation is the gift from God that rescues us from sin and its consequences, restoring our relationship with Him and giving us eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Why Do We Need Salvation?

Because of sin, all people are separated from God.

📖 Romans 3:23

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Sin brings spiritual death and separation from God.

📖 Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God’s Plan for Salvation

God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to save us.

📖 John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus’ death and resurrection made salvation possible.

📖 Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

How Do We Receive Salvation?

Salvation is received by faith — trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior.

📖 Ephesians 2:8–9

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

What Does Salvation Mean for Us?

  • We are forgiven and made right with God.
  • We receive the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us.
  • We are given new life and hope for eternity.

📖 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Living in Salvation

Salvation begins a lifelong journey of growing closer to God and living according to His will.

📖 Philippians 2:12–13

“Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you…”

Reflection

Have you received God’s gift of salvation? How does it change your life and hope?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me from sin and giving me new life. Help me to live for You every day and share Your love with others. Amen.

I am saved because Jesus:

Choose to save meForgave all my sins
Drew me to HimselfGave me the gift of faith
Gave me a new heartGranted me repentance

I am NOT saved because.

Repeated a prayer
Walked down an isle
Go to church
Been baptised
Have Christian family
Made a decision for Christ
Give to charity and you consider yourself as a good person

Even though you may be flawed, He simply wants a humble heart that is ready and obedient—not perfection. The greatest challenges are the illusions we tell ourselves, not the giants we encounter.
