Ash Wednesday Prayer
Merciful and loving God,
as we begin this holy season of Lent,
we come before You in humility and truth.
You formed us from the dust of the earth,
and You breathe into us the breath of life.
We confess that we have sinned against You
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done
and by what we have left undone.
Create in us clean hearts, O God,
and renew a right spirit within us.
Teach us to turn away from sin
and to walk again in the light of Your grace.
Strip away our pride, our distractions,
and all that draws us from Your presence.
As ashes mark our foreheads,
remind us of our mortality
and of Your mercy that endures forever.
May this season of repentance
lead us to deeper faith,
true obedience,
and a renewed love for You and for one another.
Lead us to the cross,
where forgiveness was poured out through Christ,
and prepare our hearts
for the joy of resurrection life.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Cambridge Train Attack
Gracious and merciful God,
We lift to You the names we do not yet know — nine people grievously injured in yesterday’s attack on the train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross
We ask You now to be with each one:
- For those fighting for their lives, bring Your healing, surround them with skilled care, and grant peace to their bodies, minds and spirits.
- For their families and loved ones, who wait in fear and uncertainty, bring strength, comfort and the reassurance of Your presence.
- For the many onlookers, passengers who witnessed horrific scenes and now carry shock, terror or guilt, grant restoration, calm and the safe shelter of Your love.
Lord, we also bring before You the emergency responders — the paramedics, the air-ambulance crews, the armed officers, the investigators, the station staff. In the face of chaos, they rushed in.
Bless them with endurance. Shield their hearts from trauma. Grant clarity of mind and warmth of compassion as they conduct their work.
Father, in a moment when normal life was shattered — a train journey, perhaps seen as routine, turned into horror — we cry out for Your comfort and for Your justice. May this act of violence not define us, but may Your love prevail in its wake.
Let healing rise where there is pain; let hope grow where there is fear; bring reconciliation where there is confusion. Help us to be agents of Your peace and kindness in the aftermath of this attack.
We pray for the investigators and all authorities working to uncover what happened, that truth might prevail and further harm be prevented.
We hold on to Your promise that You are near to the broken-hearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
We ask this in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Prayer for the Homeless in Hot Weather
Heavenly Father,
We lift before You all those without shelter in this scorching heat.
Lord, You are our shade and our refuge; protect them from harm and exhaustion.
Provide cool water for their thirst, safe places for rest, and kind people to offer help.
Strengthen their bodies, lift their spirits, and remind them they are not forgotten.
In Your mercy, guide us to be Your hands and feet—offering compassion, aid, and hope.
In Jesus’ name we pray,

Prayer for Russia and Pacific Nations in the Wake of Earthquake and Tsunami Warnings
Merciful God,
We lift up before You the people of Russia and all the Pacific nations now under tsunami warnings. As the earth shakes and the seas rise, we turn to You—our Creator and Sustainer—for protection, wisdom, and peace.
Lord, we pray for those near the epicenter of the earthquake: calm their fear, guard their lives, and guide emergency responders. We ask for Your shielding hand over those in Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, the Philippines, and all Pacific coastal areas at risk from tsunami waves.
May early warnings be heeded, may evacuations go smoothly, and may panic give way to calm resolve. For families separated, Lord, bring connection. For communities in harm’s way, provide shelter. For leaders making urgent decisions, grant clear judgment and strength.
Stretch out Your hand, O God, over the seas and still the waters, just as Jesus calmed the storm. May this moment remind us of how fragile life is—and how strong You are.

Gracious and Merciful God,
We come before You today with heavy hearts, grieving the tragedy that has struck the community of Minehead.
We lift to You all who were on the coach—students, teachers, and staff.
We mourn especially the loss of a precious child, whose life ended far too soon.
Lord, surround that child’s family with Your comfort. Hold them in Your tender mercy.
Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds.
We pray for the injured—bring swift healing to their bodies, minds, and spirits.
Strengthen the medical teams caring for them.
Bless the first responders who rushed into danger to save lives—reward their courage and compassion.
For the school community now shaken and in shock,
send Your Spirit to be a source of hope and strength in this dark hour.
Lord, we ask You to calm the fear, ease the pain, and bind up the brokenhearted.
Bring neighbors together in love.
Let kindness and care overflow in the midst of sorrow.
May this tragedy not have the last word—may love rise, and healing come.
We entrust every child, every parent, every teacher into Your hands,
and we ask, O God of comfort, that You walk with them now and always.

Almighty and Compassionate God,
In this hour of grief and fear, we lift up to You the young life lost, the wounded, and their families in Nantes. Surround them with Your healing presence and bring comfort where there is sorrow.
Grant strength to the emergency responders, medical staff, and all who rush to aid those in pain. Guide their hands and hearts as they work tirelessly.
Soften the hearts of those who carry violence within them, and transform despair into hope, anger into understanding. May Your peace descend upon Nantes and all places touched by fear.
Unite us across borders and beliefs in a shared resolve to stand against hatred and to uphold the sanctity of every human life.
In Your mercy, turn mourning into moments of grace, and let compassion be our prayer and our path forward.

Lord we pray,
- Pray for comfort and support for those who have lost loved ones.
- Pray for those who are hurt to recover from their physical and mental wounds.
- Those who have not yet been found: Offer our prayers for those who have yet to hear from their loved ones.
- Pray for victims’ families whose lives have been irrevocably changed.
- Individuals who are assisting others: Offer up prayers for those offering assistance and support.
- Those in mourning: Offer our prayers for those experiencing unfathomable losses.
- Pray for everyone in the emergency services to be safe and to feel at peace both while at work and at home. Lord thank you for these people who put their lives at risk to save others.

We remember 911 2001.
People are still affected even after 23 years, and we pray that God will grant healing to those who are grieving as well as to those who are still impacted by what they witnessed and went through.
We will never completely understand what people have gone through, and it would be conceited of us to claim to know; only God truly understands.
We pray that God will be with everyone who is still affected. People were brought together by love and bonded by sadness, we pray that the Lord will bring comfort and peace for your hearts.
We pray that individuals who have strayed from the Lord’s path due to suffering will find their way back to Him.
We want to give thanks to everyone who helped that day on the scene and behind the scenes and those who continue to support today.
Father, on this anniversary, please be with your people and hold them in your arms.

Prayer for support and the Holy Spirit to be presence
Can I please ask for prayers over the coming week. My Church is running its annual holiday club, this year being Deep Sea Divers, those that have run holiday clubs know that it takes a lot of time and planning. We finished off today our scenery, which as always is fantastic. We have both young and old assist with various props. It really is a whole church effort. We need prayer now for strength and stamina for this of us leading the club. We have a variety of age groups. So, we need to meet various needs. Some if us leaders having behind the scenes have commitments and there’s been illness too. Pray for protection. Pray for our young visitors coming, that they have fun but also learn about our God too. Thank you
