Jesus In The Middle Of Christmas

Reclaiming the Heart of the Season

In the midst of twinkling lights, wrapped gifts, festive meals, and family traditions, it’s easy to get swept up in the busyness of Christmas and forget what — or rather, who — it’s truly about. Christmas is not just a holiday; it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

At Christian Life Today, we want to help you place Jesus in the middle of your Christmas — not just as a thought, but as the very centre of every moment, every gathering, and every act of giving.

The True Meaning of Christmas

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…” — Isaiah 9:6

Christmas marks the moment when heaven touched earth — when God stepped into human history in the form of a baby born in Bethlehem. Jesus came not just to be celebrated, but to transform lives. His birth fulfilled prophecy, His life revealed God’s love, and His death and resurrection gave us hope for eternity.

This is the heart of Christmas: Emmanuel — God with us.

Keeping Jesus at the Centre

Here are some ways to keep Christ central in your Christmas:

  • Start with Scripture
Begin each day with a Bible reading or Advent reflection. Read Luke 2 as a family on Christmas morning to remind yourselves of the nativity story.
  • Pray Together
In the middle of meal prep or gift opening, take time to pray. Thank God for the gift of His Son and for the blessings He provides.
  • Give with Purpose
Let your gift-giving reflect God’s generous love. Consider giving to someone in need or supporting a ministry in Jesus’ name.
  • Worship Fully
Attend a Christmas service or listen to Christ-centred carols and worship songs. Celebrate not just the season, but the Saviour.

A Christmas Prayer

Lord Jesus, in the midst of our celebrations, help us not to lose sight of You. May Your love fill our hearts, Your peace calm our worries, and Your presence be felt in our homes. Let this Christmas be centred on You — the greatest gift we could ever receive. Amen.

Share the Message

Let others know that Jesus is the reason for the season. Share this page, invite someone to church, or simply remind a friend of God’s love this Christmas.

Because when Jesus is at the centre, Christmas becomes more than a tradition — it becomes a celebration of life, love, and eternal hope.

Remember to place Jesus in the centre of Christmas, even if this time of year may be incredibly hectic, isolating, and difficult.

Matthew 1:23 New International Version
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[a] (which means “God with us”).
